Academic Keynote Speaker

niel-gandal Professor Neil Gandal, Tel Aviv University

Neil Gandal is Professor of Economics at Tel Aviv University. He received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 1989. Professor Gandal has published numerous empirical papers in the economics of information technology, the economics of the software and internet industries, and the economics of cybersecurity, with more than 5,000 citations at Google Scholar. He is the first (and only) Honorary Editor at the International Journal of Industrial Organization. He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. In a recent “breakthrough” article published in the Journal of Monetary Economics, Professor Gandal and his coauthors showed how the price of bitcoin was probably manipulated, while suspicious transactions may have caused the unprecedented jump in 2013 of about 700% of its value.


Industry Keynote Speaker

Raphael Ouzan is Blockchain entrepreneur and seed investor. He has been coding professionally since the age of 13 and has been lecturing and building products in the fields of big data, mobile, crypto and cyber-security ever since. Raphael received Israel's highest President's Award for technology innovation. In 2010, he co-founded BillGuard, built its core technology and led its product, data science and operations teams before it was acquired to Prosper Marketplace. Raphael is also the co-founder and chairman of ITC tech, a Tel Aviv based campus for aspiring and experienced engineers from 25+ countries providing elite training and placement in AI, cyber-security, and blockchain development. He is a board member at Startup Nation Central and on the Selection Board for Station F. He also founded, a community of talented blockchain entrepreneurs and investors in New York and Tel Aviv. In 2016, Raphael was named Forbes 30 under 30.
